feeder flowers

product highlight

I thought you'd like to see a new product I've been working on for selling at craft fairs this year.

I've been making these shallow dishes in the rough shape of flowers - stylistic general flowers rather than being based on a particular species. I was aiming at them being useful outdoors as either a pretty water bath (more like puddle for the small ones!) or seed feeder ornaments. Threaded onto a steel rod, they're effectively a free-standing feeder you can move about to anywhere you like in the garden, suitable for the birds that find the perches on a traditional seed feeder tube too hard!

I have trialled a couple of the smaller diameter ones at home, and tasked my husband with keeping an eye on them, and perhaps getting a photo if we were lucky.

This morning he provided the evidence that they were doing the job well!

Note that since trying these and photographing it with seed in, the RSPB have updated their bird feeding guidelines and are no longer recommend putting seed in a tray (read more at this link: https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/news/how-to-help-garden-birds) but these will still work as little water stations.

Also, since this prototype, the final product has a much shorter thread on the top of the rod, so isn't as visible as it is here.
